Washington Trust Holds Ribbon Cutting for Newest Branch in North Providence, RI

North Providence, Rhode Island – Thursday morning, January 10th, Washington Trust held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of its 23rd branch, located at 1588 Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence, Rhode Island. Washington Trust Chairman and CEO Edward “Ned” Handy and President and COO Mark Gim were joined by Rhode Island Lt. Governor Daniel McKee; State Senate President Dominick Ruggerio; State Senator Frank Ciccone; North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi; and members of the North Providence town council; the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce; the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce; and North Providence town officials. Lt. Governor McKee presented a citation recognizing the Bank for opening a new branch in the State of Rhode Island.

“We have been serving Rhode Island and Rhode Islander’s for 219 years,” said Handy. “We love North Providence, and we love being a part of this community. And today, with all of you here, we are ready to celebrate the opening of our 23rd branch, our first here in North Providence and 22nd in the state of Rhode Island.”

At the ceremony, Handy, Gim, and Branch Manager Marcus Charlemagne presented a check to Mayor Lombardi and Linda Giorgio, Director of the North Providence Mancini Center, the branch’s first community partner in North Providence.

Also in attendance from the Washington Trust senior management team were Deb Gormley, Executive Vice President of Retail Banking; Dennis Algiere, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer; Michael Clarkin, Senior Vice President, Corporate Sales; Amy Arruda, Senior Vice President, Retail Banking; and Patricia Hartford, Senior Vice President and Manager of Cash Management Services. Members of A. Autiello Construction, the contractor for construction of the new branch, were also on hand for the event.
