Westerly, RI - The Washington Trust Company was recently named one of the nation’s Best Banks to Work For by American Banker magazine as part of its annual list organized by the Best Companies Group. Washington Trust is the largest Northeast bank and the only Rhode Island-based institution named.
“As an employer, we strive to be an ‘employer of choice’ – a place where people aspire to work, are proud to work, and stay to build their lives and careers with us,” said Edward O. Handy III, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Washington Trust. “We’re extremely proud to be recognized as one of the nation’s Best Banks to Work For, because it reconfirms our commitment to our employees and the outstanding service they provide to our customers and our communities.”
The Best Banks to Work For program identifies, recognizes, and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction. The recognition is based on workplace policies and practices, as well as a survey of employees regarding life at Washington Trust – work environment, morale, benefits, and growth opportunities.
“One of the critical factors in a bank's success is how it treats its employees. This year's list honors those institutions which have gone above and beyond to invest in employees' personal and professional growth,” said Rob Blackwell, editor in chief of American Banker.
Best Companies Group managed the overall survey process and analyzed the data to determine the final list. The program is open to commercial banks, thrifts, savings banks and other chartered retail financial institutions with at least 50 employees in the United States.
